Andrew Evans Osteopath Melton Osteo Melton

Dr Andrew Evans: Osteopath & Co-director

  • Andrew is the very definition of the Ampersand philosophy; the ampersand is an all-inclusive, all accepting word that means there is always more. Andrew will go out of his way to help his clients and nothing is ever too much for him.

With being diagnosed with ADHD himself, Andrews superpower is the speed at which his brain can process information and come up with new, exciting and creative ways to solve even the most complex of matters, which means that his treatment plans are fun, interactive, collaborative, and best of all; don’t feel like rehabilitation or prescriptive exercise.

When Andrew isn't at work he can be found rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, performing with his flow toys or accidentally setting his hair on fire with his fire poi. In essence, he is always moving, which is what makes him perfect for designing our Movement Therapy programs.

  • Osteopathy:

Andrew offers over 19 years of manual therapy experience and has been working in the western surburbs of Melbourne, specifically Melton since graduating as an Osteopath in 2010, offering many different types of treatment modalities, including dry needling and exercise rehabilitation.

    Movement Therapy:

Andrew has a profound interest in helping children and adults with movement disorders develop correct movement patterns to improve their quality of their every day lives.

Andrews passion for helping children and adults with movement pattern disorders comes with many years experience of treating elite athletes and sportspeople to recover from injury and improve their movement patterns, motor control and overall performance. With the birth of his children and watching their motor development through various therapeutic interventions, Andrew found the transferrance of his knowledge and skills of building the ability and capacity for movement from athletes to children and adults to be seamless; all movement is motion, and movement is what Andrew does best.

    Aquatic Therapy:

Andrew has also had a love and passion for water, from spending summers playing in his parents pool to coaching kayaking at Port Melbourne, when his children were old enough to enjoy the same experiences he did, he found a love for finding ways to help young people with different sensory requirements to enjoy the pool environment too, while improving motor skills, fitness and decreasing stress on the joints while exercising in water. He is a certified lifeguard and has completed the Australian Physiotherapy Association programme for Hydrotherapy and all aquatic therapy programs are developed using AustSwims guidelines for accessibility and inclusivity.

  • Since graduating in 2010, Andrew has completed multiple courses in exercise rehabilitation, dry needling and surf lifesaving.

Andrew developed a keen interest in interprofessional practice and has worked as a consultant for Victoria University, assisting at the forefront of the delivery and implementation of interprofessional education and practice.

Andrew led a project at Victoria University in the first of its kind to bring together students of different allied healthcare disciplines to collaboratively manage the healthcare of patients with disabilities.

By orchestrating projects that united students from diverse healthcare disciplines, he facilitated a collaborative approach to patient care, and is now looking to share his experience in what will be a cornerstone of Ampersand’s operating philosophy.

Andrew has also been a supervising clinician and mentor for Osteopathic students in their final years, creating tutorial material to enhance their education and being an examiner for their final exams. His contributions to creating interprofessional education and practice as well as his ability to teach and mentor students makes him an invaluable asset to Ampersand and it's delivery of a collaborative, team driven system of healthcare.

  • Having personal and family experience with neurodivergences, Andrew has a profound connection to the community and Ampersand has been created to serve, with unique insights into the challenges and needs of individuals with disabilities, driving his commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and effectiveness for everyone, everybody and every ability, whilst drawing on his extensive experience of treating the weekend warriors, desk workers, tradies, mum and dads and everyone else from all walks of life from his time at other clinics in Melton.

Osteopath Alex Winch at Ampersand Allied Health Melton

Dr Alex Winch: Osteopath, Yogi & Co-director

  • Alex encompasses the Ampersand philosophy, she is a passionate osteopath, student mentor, university lecturer, online educator and yoga instructor. Her down to earth approach to therapy and education has helped inspire others to reach for, and achieve their goals.

Alex has ADHD, ASD and c-PTSD, leaving her uniquely able to understand how each different neurodivergence can be adapted for through therapy and movement programs. You'll find an array of fidgets, music and lighting options available in her treatment rooms (for her clients, of course)!

When Alex isn't in the clinic, you can find her practicing yoga at sunrise, hiking, camping or sitting by a campfire, getting hit in the face by her dragon staff or staring at the stars in amazement.

  • Osteopathy:

Alex has been an osteopath since 2012, practicing predominantly in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Alex is skilled in a variety of clinical techniques and loves to educate her clients about what is happening, why it is happening and how they can help prevent it happening again. Using her own understanding of the different sensory needs of neurodivergencies, she can tailor her hands on osteopathy treatment to suit all needs and requirements.

    Stretch, Balance and Breathe:

Alex has combined her clinical rehabilitation knowledge of Osteopathy with the principles of yoga to create Stretch, Balance and Breathe, and having an on-site yoga room designed with varying sensory needs and activity levels in mind, we can create programs for every person, regardless of ability.

While studying, Alex developed a love for yoga, finding it to be a powerful way to relieve the stresses of the day. It is a practice she has incorporated throughout the past 16 years, however she still wobbles when trying to balance on one leg!

For her, yoga isn't about performing the perfect pose, being the most flexible or having incredible balance, it's about bringing conscious awareness to the movements of the body, learning breathing exercises which provide transportable emotional regulation and a grounding of the senses through practicing mindfulness, which leaves her feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready for the day.

    Aquatic Therapy:

With a background in high level competitive swimming as a teen and becoming a surf lifesaver after moving from England to Queensland, Alex has always wanted to find a way to bring the beneficial benefits of water to others through therapy. Alex's passion for education and creating educational content has allowed her to work alongside Andrew to create Aquatic Therapy programs to help those with wanting help with rehabilitation after injury, increasing their strength or fitness, or aiming to improve their motor control, movement or coordination.

Alex will continiue to work out of both Ampersand Allied Health & Osteopathy her own multidisciplinary clinic, ProActive Osteopathy, founded in 2015 in Malvern East, demonstrating her unwavering loyalty and committment to her clients. She will show the same to you.

  • Since graduating as an osteopath in 2012, Alex has had an interest in a multiple of areas and has completed professional development in paediatrics, pregnancy, the treatment of headaches and migraines, providing hydrotherapy programs, and completed further qualifications in dry needling, NLP training, trauma informed practice for coaches and more recently, yoga teacher training, yoga teacher training for children and children with sensory needs.

Further training in the academic world means that Alex has gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education, produce and present online educational webinars for massage therapists and myotherapists across Australia, provide face to face, hands on education, teaching clinical skills to osteopathy students. She has also been a supervising clinician and mentor for Osteopathic students in their final years, equipping her with exceptional skills in mentorship and education development.

Alex is using her love of education and her skills of creating educational content to provide professional development for our staff, our therapists and to create educational resources for you, our most valued clients.

  • With a similar personal and family experience with varying neurodivergences to Andrew, Alex has a deep understanding of the individual needs of differing people, whether they are neurodivergent or not. By creating an all-inclusive, neuro-affirming clinical environment where everyone feels at home, it is her hope that Ampersand Allied Health becomes more than just a place for treatment, but it also is a place for enjoyment, care, laughter and a place where you can feel free from discomfort or dis-ease.
